Crew Training including classroom and hands-on sailing

Target Participants:

Beginners and Individuals who have sailed a few times as guests on a sailboat, but would like to take a more active role during sailing.

Topics covered:

9am – 11am                 Class Room Session

  • Basic Terminology and parts of a sailboat
  • Sailing etiquette
  • How does a sailboat move
  • Points of sail

11:30am – 5:30pm       On the Water Session

  • Identifying sailboat parts
  • Safety
  • Undocking
  • Basic navigation rules in the channel
  • Hoisting/unfurling sails
  • Points of sail and basic sail trim
  • Tacking and jibing (getting ready and executing)
  • Crew at the helm
  • Lowering sails
  • Docking
